"He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." "Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you." Deuteronomy 8:3,5
This morning, I got on the scale....and it was humbling. A weekend of birthday celebrations for my son, and the outcome was not pretty. But, I knew that God was speaking right to me in my morning devotions when the Bible said "the Lord your God disciplines you." I desperately need discipline in my life. I know that God is teaching me that this life is not about food but rather the Word of God. May these two verses bring fresh revelation to you as well!
Dear Lord, thank You for causing us to hunger. Thank You also for feeding us and teaching us that we don't live on just bread but rather EVERY word that comes from Your mouth. Thank You for loving us like children that You discipline us...may the outcome of that discipline be what You're seeking in us. Please help us, Lord! Transform our minds, spirits and bodies. In the name of Jesus' we pray, AMEN!
