Controlled by the Spirit of God

"You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." Romans 8:9

This verse jumped out at me. I don't know why it seemed like such a revelation this morning, but we are not controlled by the sinful nature that I always seem to blame for my actions. Instead we are controlled by the Spirit of God who lives inside us. So, we don't need to say "oh, it's that sin nature I'm struggling with." Remind yourself that God's Spirit is in control. And He wants the best for your body since that's His dwelling place. I'm feeling the victory dance of crushing Satan underneath our feet coming on... anyone want to dance with me?

Dear God, thank You that Your Holy Spirit controls us, not our sinful nature. May we keep that in the forefront of our minds as we make choices regarding our bodies today. Lord, may You alone be honored by the 'victory dance' we do... obviously, You alone deserve the praise and recognition for crushing sin and evil and making us healthy, thin and holy! We love you. In Jesus' name, AMEN!
